Surgery Age

Owned cats must be at least 3 months of age and 3 pounds.

Cat Carriers

One cat carrier per cat is mandatory, it must be functioning and safe for transport. If the carrier is severely broken, or the cat is not in a carrier, a carboard carrier must be purchased for $15.

Times

Drop off time for surgery is 8:00 am

Pickup time is 4:00 pm

Protection

We highly recommend always vaccinating your pets at least 2 weeks before surgery to fully protect them.

Tattoo

All pets receive a mandatory small green line tattoo on their abdomen to indicate they have been spayed or neutered.

Pain Meds/E-cones

Surgery prices include injectable and oral pain medication given during and after surgery. It also includes an e-collar for female cats. We recommend an e-collar for all cats except male cats and feral cats.

Additional Charges

There are additional charges if a female animal is in heat, pregnant, has an umbilical hernia, or has a pyometra. There are also additional charges for males that are cryptorchid or have a hernia.

Payment

Payment is at pickup. We will email a payment link before pickup if time allows. CASH OR CARD ONLY.

Rabies Vaccine is Mandatory

A rabies vaccine is required at the time of surgery if your pet is not up-to-date.

If your pet is not up-to-date we will provide a rabies vaccine discounted to $10 at the time of surgery.

If your pet is up-to-date we must have proof in the form of a physical rabies certificate signed by a veterinarian within the last year, this can be uploaded when making the appointment or emailed to parnter@4directionsvet.org.

Feral/Community Cats

Feral or community cats are cats that are not owned. For the purposes of surgery and consent, the person signing up the feral or community cat must accept responsibility for the cat.

At FDV we support trap-neuter-release TNR efforts and so perform feral cat surgeries.

Since it is difficult to estimate an age and weight, we will perform surgery on candidates we feel can safely undergo the procedure.

Ear Tip

Feral/Community cats do receive a mandatory rabies vaccine, left ear tip, and abdominal tattoo. This is to ensure they are not repetitively trapped and it is visible from a distance that they have been spayed or neutered.
