Surgery Age

Owned cats must be at least 3 months of age AND 3 pounds

Cat Carriers

ONE cat carrier per cat is mandatory, AND must be functioning and safe for transport. If the carrier is severely broken, or the cat is not in a carrier, or there is moe than one cat per carrier a carboard carrier must be purchased for $15.

Time/Location

Drop off time for surgery is 8:00 am

Pickup time is 4:00 pm.

The exact location can be seen when you schedule the appointment. 

You will also receive a text message prior to the appointment which will reiterate the time and exact location.

**If the location you want does not appear in the scroll bar when scheduling, that means that location is FULL and unable to be booked.**

Protection

We highly recommend completing any vaccine series at least 2 weeks before surgery to fully protect them.

We highly recommend establishing a relationship with a primary vet.

Tattoo

All pets receive a mandatory small green line tattoo on their abdomen to indicate they have been spayed or neutered.

Rechecks

FDV provides free recheck appointments. If any additional medications or services are recommended, there will be an additional cost.

Since FDV is mobile, rechecks may not be able to be provided in an urgent/emergent manner.

You are responsible for traveling to FDV's location for the recheck.

There is a list of urgent/ER vets under the "More" tab on the main menu to use if needed outside of our normal hours or in cases of emergency.

Pain Meds/E-cones

Surgery prices include injectable and oral pain medication given during and after surgery. It also includes an e-collar for female cats. We recommend an e-collar for all cats except male cats and feral cats.

Additional Charges

There are additional charges if an animal is in heat (female), pregnant (female), cryptorchid (male) or has a hernia. 

There is an additional $8 charge for Capster for any cat with fleas. Capstar kills ADULT fleas for 24 hours and helps to keep the surgical site free from fleas.

Please withhold any food after midnight.

Water may be accessible at all time.

**IF your pet is less than 8 weeks or less than 4 pounds, withhold food no longer than 2 hours before surgery.

Paying

Payment

Payment is at pickup. We will email a payment link before pickup if time allows. Paying over the payment link can help with a speedier check-out.

Medical Records

All medical records (rabies certificate, summary of surgery/services) and receipt are sent directly to the email you provided when scheduling.

Discharge instructions are also sent via email AND are provided physically at the time of discharge.

After Scheduling Appointment

Once you make your appointment, FDV will need to approve it. This can take a little time, but your surgery spot is held during this time. 

Once the appointment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email with further instructions.

As the surgery date approaches you will receive additional reminder emails and a reminder text right before your surgery date.
